LITERARY NIGHTMARES AND ANCIENT LEGENDS: MYSTERY COMES TO LIFE IN THE VILLAGE OF MORRO D’ALBA FOR HALLOWEEN 2026

The village of Morro d’Alba, one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages and a renowned City of Wine, is preparing to welcome families, mystery enthusiasts, and lovers of ancient Marche legends with a new edition of Halloween in the Village.

Although Halloween is more widely celebrated in English-speaking countries, the holiday has deep European roots. In Morro d’Alba, it has for years been aimed at families and has become an opportunity for original cultural events, which will take place, as tradition dictates, on Saturday, October 31.

The most beautiful villages of the Marche region are guardians not only of beauty but also of mystery.

On the morning of October 31, at 10:30 a.m. (departure from Piazza Romagnoli), visitors can join Haunted Villages: Guided Tour with Wine Tasting and Stories of Legends and Mysteries from Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages in the Marche Region.

Led by Councillor for Culture Alessandra Boldreghini, the tour will allow participants to discover the village of Morro d’Alba through an evocative walk along the historic La Scarpa Walkway and into the underground chambers of the Utensilia Museum, among works by Mario Giacomelli and Enzo Cucchi. Visitors will learn about the mysteries and legends connected to the most beautiful villages of the Marche region.

During the storytelling experience, guests carrying a wine glass around their necks will be able to taste four wines produced by local wineries, combining the discovery of the village’s historical and cultural heritage with its outstanding winemaking tradition.

The experience is also designed for children, who will receive educational and recreational materials introducing the village and featuring Halloween-themed activities.

The cost is €10 per person (€4 for children), including museum exhibitions and wine tasting. The guided tour only costs €5.

Places are limited and booking is required by calling +39 328 5487491 (Department of Culture and Tourism).

On the afternoon of October 31, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Halloween at the Museum and in the Village will take place.

This celebration, originally dedicated to children, has grown into an enjoyable experience for the whole family.

Adults and children alike will participate in a pumpkin hunt, solve riddles and puzzles in the underground chambers of the Utensilia Museum, and take part in a treasure hunt connected to the museum’s collection and Marche traditions.

In collaboration with the Municipal Library, a friendly Witch will welcome children and parents, helping them overcome their fears through reading.

There will also be face painting, creative spaces for drawing and colouring, and a Nutella Party snack area.

In the village square, games and mysterious dances, animated by costumed performers, will entertain both children and parents, organized by the Families Committee.

Along the atmospheric La Scarpa Walkway, the Castle Witch, an expert sorceress, will magically transform naughty children into well-behaved ones.

Meanwhile, a gothic and mysterious corner dedicated to horror writer Edgar Allan Poe will challenge participants to follow clues and discover the titles of his stories.

Admission to the museum and all outdoor activities, including face painting and refreshments, costs €5 per child, while accompanying adults enter free of charge.

Children who book in advance will receive a complimentary gift while supplies last.

Advance booking is recommended by calling +39 335 7240496 or +39 328 5487491 (Department of Culture and Tourism) by 12:00 noon on Friday, October 30.

At 9:30 p.m., a new edition of Journey into the Shadow returns.

This original travelling live horror reading is designed for those who enjoy strong emotions.

The performance will immerse audiences in modern literature through four nightmares inspired by contemporary imagination, created by four different horror authors who set their stories on Halloween night.

The show will move through four evocative locations around Morro d’Alba, transforming the entire village into a stage for spine-chilling emotions.

The stories will be performed by the captivating voices of Francesca Rossetti and Stefano Vecchi.

The event will begin at the Santa Teleucania Auditorium, a deconsecrated church dating back to 1670, and conclude, as tradition dictates, with a toast of Lacrima wine, offered by local wineries.

Places are limited and booking is recommended by calling +39 328 5487491.

Admission costs €5, including wine tasting.

For those who simply want to enjoy the atmosphere of the village, the recently restored La Scarpa Walkway will welcome visitors on Halloween night with a refined horror soundtrack playlist for an enchanting Walk in the Mystery, enhanced by the Hellish Walk Light Design installation, creating the sensation of walking across burning flames.

Free admission.

To conclude the weekend of mystery, on Sunday, November 1, the Utensilia Museum, open from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., will continue to host Halloween at the Museum: puzzles, riddles and treasure hunts inspired by objects from the museum collection.

The cost is €4 per child, while accompanying adults enter free of charge.

On the most mysterious day of the year, the charm of Morro d’Alba reveals itself through children’s games, literary nightmares, and legends from Italy’s most beautiful villages.

Preserving beauty through culture, glasses of wine, and smiles becomes a way of overcoming the fears of an increasingly challenging world.
